Vocational Rehabilitation Program Mental Health Partial Treatment Programs in Massachusetts This program utilizes horticultural activities to simulate real work experience. The horticulture therapy utilizes plants and horticulture activities to improve the social, emotional and physical well-being of clients. The vocational rehabilitation component assesses clients' abilities and prepares them for the workforce. The program is located in historic Lexington, Massachusetts on four picturesque acres.
Features of the Vocational Rehabilitation Program:
Each client is prescreened and given an extensive vocational evaluation.
Clients' progress is tracked through an extensive competencies list, based on ability to demonstrate employment skills.
Clients begin participation in a structured, year-round horticultural training program. The horticultural program offers instruction on the growing and caring of plants and gives clients the opportunity to further develop these skills by participating in garden design and planting projects for local businesses and residences. The program provides skills training and insight into clients' work tolerances, mobility, stamina, interpersonal skills and preferred learning style.
Participants who have demonstrated the ability to reenter the workforce will undergo curriculum-based, preemployment classes consisting of resume development, interviewing preparation, cover letters, disclosure of disability, etc.
Participants will be given numerous job search strategies along with assistance identifying and accomplishing appropriate vocational goals.
Clients who have displayed work-ready characteristics will transition into the placement-ready phase.
Follow-up support, advocacy and contact are continuously given to the employed client.
