Residential Highly Structured Lexington Program

The Lexington Highly Structured Mental Health Program is a highly-structured, community-based rehabilitation residence for severely and persistently mentally ill adults.  In our Lexington Program individuals participate in structured partial programs or vocational workshops. A multidisciplinary team participates in the care and treatment throughout the clients' stay. Frequent treatment reviews are held to assess each individual's progress, and to adjust the treatment plan and medication requirements as needed.

Features of the Lexington Highly Structured Program:

  • Program directed and supervised by a master's level clinician.
  • Weekly rounds by the Clinical Director of Wild Acre Inns.
  • Individualized treatment planning, collaboration with outpatient providers, organized family meeting and case management.
  • A progressive day treatment program with multiple tracks to accommodate individuals' differing levels of functioning.

Day treatment services are provided Monday through Friday either through group or individual treatment. Specific services are offered in independent daily living skills, expressive art therapies and prevocational skills.

The goal of treatment is to improve independence and the quality of life in five life areas: self-management, home and community management, supported work and education, leisure role, and social relations.

  • Psychopharmocologial consultations and continual treatment as needed.
  • Community meals provided by a registered dietician.
"My son’s residency at Wild Acre seems to have given him confidence and the ability to be a part of the family again."

Additional Features of the Lexington Program:

  • The Lexington House is a large Victorian residence nestled among wide lawns, beautiful landscaping and gardens, and an acre of wooded countryside with a nature trail.
  • Staff are on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Daily medication monitoring.
  • Substance abuse and nutritional consultations with follow-up treatment.
  • A separate annex facility provides residential services for those clients who can transition to more independent living.

A community and cultural event outing occurs daily along with a weekly field trip, which is referred to as the Community Enrichment Program. The destinations for the field trips are determined by the clients at the weekly meetings.
