Residential Independent Living Rindge Program

The Rindge Program is an independent living program offering individuals a warm supportive setting while they continue their psychological, vocational and social rehabilitation. The residence is situated in a prime location, a ten-minute walk to Harvard Square with access to shops, businesses and community resources.

Features of the Residential Independent Living Rindge Program

  • Program is supervised by a master’s level clinician.
  • Live-in counselor provides additional support.
  • Clients are responsible for their own medication.
  • Clients are expected to maintain a minimum of 30 hours of outside, structured support such as school, volunteer or paid work.
  • Each resident meets weekly with their assigned coordinator.
  • The Rindge Program is for individuals who have been in treatment but are not quite ready for total independence.
  • Emphasis is placed on increasing social interactions and awareness, developing higher functioning skills and familiarity with current events.
  • The program is designed to increase residents’ own self-reliance and independence, while providing ample opportunity for group interaction and sharing responsibility.
  • Easy access to public transportation.
Jonathan —“ It’s okay.  I have my freedom and I’m encouraged to be independent and solve my own problems… [but] I get advice… It’s a beneficial environment… I’m helped… and get support if something goes wrong.”

“We have dedicated staff that help people with practical matters.  It’s great that the house has been significantly renovated.”

ABG—“ I like that we have our own kitchens… We have a lot of independence during the day and night.”

The independent programs, Rindge, Gateway Annex and Dwight Street, are best suited to individuals who are highly functional and managing their illness with community support.
